Description
Northallerton Heritage Hub is proud to host Cataractonium: Preserving Catterick’s Roman Heritage at Northallerton Library from 22 September to 20 October.
This captivating exhibition features Roman artefacts excavated from the Catterick Garrison area. Curated by Mark Hill of the Catterick Garrison Veterans Historical Archive, the display offers a rare glimpse into Roman Britain through locally discovered objects.
Visitors can explore a wide range of artefacts including catapult projectiles, knives, coins, jewellery, and everyday items such as a bronze rat-tailed spoon and an antler comb. These pieces are a fascinating insight into the craftsmanship and daily life of Roman settlers in North Yorkshire.
Join us on 18 October for a dedicated wargaming day. See the delicately painted miniatures and take part in a replica Roman battle, hosted by the Brompton Bankers.
The exhibition and wargaming day are free. See the exhibition during Northallerton Library opening times.
